The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, since November 2006, include the duty that employers shall provide appropriate training for all workers who are likely to be exposed to asbestos and to those who supervise or oversee works that might expose employees to asbestos.

This course is aimed at the construction and maintenance trades such as Plumbers, Carpenters, Electricians, Scaffolders and general allied trades, to provide them with an understating of the locations and types of asbestos, as well as providing an understanding of the risks associated with asbestos found within their workplace.

• Asbestos type’s properties and risks;

• The health effects of exposure;

• The type’s uses and risks of ACM’s in buildings;

• Emergency procedures to deal with accidental exposure;

Risks of Asbestos Exposure:

Asbestos can be found in any buildings constructed prior to the year 2000 so it’s vital that anyone involved in alterations to the fabric of a building receives the appropriate awareness training, enabling them to take the correct precautions and reduce the risk of exposure. Even the smallest tasks such as drilling and sanding can result in the release of asbestos, so ensure you meet the legal obligations involved and protect yourself and your employees at work.
